Mindy Cohn is revealing she has been battling cancer for a second time.
The “Facts of Life” star, 59, shared news of her cancer battle in an Instagram post on Sunday, April 19. It was her first post on the platform in more than a month.
“Have been off social media for awhile ‘cuz i had to go kick cancer’s a–,” the actress captioned a photo of herself giving a thumbs up from a hospital bed.
Cohn did not share further details of her cancer battle, but she thanked the hospital staff and her “phenomenal” oncology surgeon. She added that she will be “recouping for another couple of weeks and then ready for my next adventure. onwards!”
Cohn, best known for her role of Natalie Green on “The Facts of Life,” previously revealed in 2017 that she had been battling breast cancer for five years.
At the time, Cohn told People magazine that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012 but was cancer free after undergoing a double mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation.
“I’ve always been an optimist,” she said in her 2017 interview with People. “But the cancer metastasized. It kept spreading and coming back. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, and then it would. And then I’d wait for another shoe to drop, and it would. I was frustrated and enraged. I couldn’t control any of this. I couldn’t fix it.”
Cohn also told People she stepped away from Hollywood to focus on battling cancer, but after being declared cancer free, she was “feeling great” and “so ready to get back to working.” Her recent acting work has included a part on the Apple TV series “Palm Royale,” which also stars Kristen Wiig and Ricky Martin.
Sending u all the love and strength for a speedy recovery my fellow warrior.”
